ePhyLi Erasmus Projects Final Conference October 2025

By Nigel Green, Chair of IPLA

Teachers of physical education have a catalyst role to play in providing positive learning environments for all children. It is of outmost importance to ensure that teachers of PE are knowledgeable and have a complete understanding of the notion of physical literacy so that they can provide positive experiences within their PE lessons. The ePhyLi Erasmus project aimed to assess students who were training to be teachers of PE, in their understanding of physical literacy and how they can impact on the engagement of pupils in physical activity. Based on this evaluation a gamified digital learning approach was developed and ePhyLi provided eight interactive learning modules for university students and teachers of PE. This training programme is now freely available online in four languages (English, Greek, Italian and French) as an open access to learning resource.

The final conference for the ePhyLi Project was the culmination of our hard work over three years. Freely available are Eight eLearning Modules in four different languages (that are free to be translated into other languages). These modules take you through an in depth understanding of physical literacy, that is relevant to students, lecturers, teachers and policy makers who are involved in physical education, sport and physical activity. The modules, which have HE credits attached to them, consider teaching strategies and models that promote PL, along with assessment, early years and SEND modules, all of which are endorsed by the International Physical Literacy Association. There is a free app that allows you to test your knowledge and understanding, along with three interactive tasks and two life journey comic books, to aid understanding and context. Just follow the link and register to access the materials. https://lnkd.in/eA8SkztE

Moving forward, we hope that the resources will be used worldwide to enhance understanding and practice of teachers of PE with a focus on physical literacy.
