IPLA Foundation Course in Physical Literacy
Welcome to the IPLA Foundation Course in Physical Literacy.
This course aims to:
- Introduce the concept of physical literacy
- Explain the IPLA definition of physical literacy
- Explore the nature of a physical literacy journey
- Identify the implications of physical literacy informed practice
By the end of the course you should be more familiar with the concept and some of its key guiding principles.

The course consists of six progressive lessons. Please click on the first lesson (introduction) to begin the course.
Lessons
Section 1: Definition
In this second lesson, we look at the reasons why people may or may not participate in physical activity and explore the definition of physical literacy.
Section 2: Journey
In this third lesson, we explore how physical literacy can be considered as a life long journey and identify influential factors.
Section 3: Implications
In this forth lesson, we look at the implications around physical literacy, both the implications for not embedding it in practice and also the benefits.

In this lesson, it’s your chance to provide us with feedback. We want to make this course as enjoyable and informative as possible.
